Match Report – Clann na nGael Juniors vs St Peter’s, Dunboyne

Clann na nGael 0-12 St. Peter’s Dunboyne 0-12

The wind had a big influence on this junior championship match played in heavy conditions in Summerhill Sunday. Clann enjoyed the better start with Eamonn o Donnachada a constant threat with his runs from deep and Aaron Ennis in good form on frees. They lead by 9 points to 5 just before half time when Luke Swaine had a great goal chance but it was saved and Dunboyne went in at the half only 5 points behind 9 to 5 with the advantage of the wind to come in the second half.

Dunboyne centre forward Ger Robinson was the main scoring threat in the second half and some good long range scores saw the Clann lead ebb away. Aaron Ennis kept the score board ticking over with some good frees as the Athboy/Rathcairn fought to hold their lead. Dunboyne finally reeled them in just as the half hour was up. Both sides had chances in the 3 minutes of extra time that referee Jason Plunkett played but in the end a draw was the outcome and a fair result on the day.
